The problem of counterfeiting and poor quality products is increasingly worrying in the world. In order to respond to this scourge in a specific area, our Government ordered in 1990 the creation of the National Health Laboratory with the mission of controlling the quality of medicines, foods, beverages or any substance imported or produced in the Republic of Mali and intended for therapeutic, dietary or food purposes in order to safeguard the health of human and animal populations. In this context and for international recognition of its skills, the structure has initiated, since its establishment as a Public Scientific and Technological Establishment in 2000, a quality approach which has earned it today its Accreditation to the ISO IEC 17025:2017 standard for pharmaceutical product testing activities following Certificate n°ES21007 version 00 of 09/12/2022 issued by the West African Accreditation System (SOAC). This is a second after that of 2013 in food microbiology awarded by the Tunisian Accreditation Council (TUNAC). Obtaining this accreditation, a strong recommendation from the Board of Directors and Partners of the LNS, is a first in the field of quality control of medicines in the UEMOA area and in French-speaking Africa.

This accreditation contributes to the achievement of objective 4.5 of the Transitional Government Action Plan (PAG), namely "Improving the living conditions of populations". While being part of program 2.057 "Hospital Care and Research", it falls within the framework of action 4.5.1 "Strengthening access to basic social services, the quality of life of populations and sustainable development

It will allow, among other things :

• to offer better products, services or benefits to customers ;
• to better safeguard the health of populations by monitoring products (medicines, food/drinks, water) by controlling their intrinsic quality ;
• to improve trade by issuing control certificates which can serve as passports for the products concerned on import and export
